under the deep blue sky

it was hot. so hot that beads of sweat are forming on my forehead just thinking about it. but watching an 8 year-old sitting on the floor and drawing on his sketchbook at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. eating gelato. meeting an old couple from South Africa who makes cheese and shared a bottle of fine red wine with all the other customers at the Cantina Canaletto. learning a little bit of Italian, the colors. and walking in Saint Mark's square early in the morning holding hands with my husband. as we waded into the sea of tourists, we were able to witness grace and true beauty inserting themselves into the fabric of our daily life. and there's no word to describe how wonderful it was.
