there's just so much to do

many things have happened lately. a new Hello Kitty toaster. a new car battery. my first PTA meeting. and while I try to gently conceal my glaring inability at maintaining a functioning household and gather up broken bits and jagged edges to write a decent post, my life is insistently reminding me of all the things that still have to be done. nothing is adequate or legitimate. nothing is ever completed. and everything is critical. I sniffle with disbelief as the reality of life with kids usher in. there's just so much to do. always.

You should drop a drinking glass on the floor.
The breaking glass changes your karma.

Unfortunately you must then get the vacuum and clean it up.

When you're a good person and mom to twins (like you are), I can't imagine there ever being down time -- but that doesn't mean you don't deserve to write, go on a walk, snap some pictures or take time for yourself. The dishes can wait. Right?

Hope things start to look up for you.

I have no kids and I still feel that way. I hope things get better, that the edges of life get toubled and smothed by the ocean of life and things fall into collecting sea glass. Do I make any sense?

I know what you mean, and I don't have kids. I honestly don't know how you moms hold it all together and actually feed and dress your kiddos and get them to school on time every morning! I'm tired just thinking about it!!

Irene, whether you believe it or not--you are more capable, more adept at wording things, more thoughtful, than most of us will ever achieve. You are a fabulous mother, and more than that, a fabulous persion...writer...friend. That feeling of never having enough time to get everything done--yeah, that's what it feels like to be a perfectionist. :) It sucks to feel that way,but on the upside it's not a very accurate view of what's going on. I'm sure you're accomplishing way more than you imagine you are! Why I know this? Because I know just how incredibly awesome you are!

some say one day at a time - I say one room at a time. I choose a room and clean it for one hours. That's it. Then, I do a 15 minute 'once over' in each room. Helps me keep on top of it.

God, I remember those days. It was hard. Now my kids are off at college, and I'm amazed at how quickly the time passed. Hang in there, Irene.

Good to read that momster shit still happens even within the city limits of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

I still feel like you're lucky to be there--even though I've only lived there for two weeks out of my life.
