grocery shopping is like driving with colorful ads and signs blinking and parading on each side of the highway polluting the view. it's like kryptonite to Superman.

it gives me dull headaches.

Those photos capture the moment perfectly. I think it is such a drag to grocery shop. I always go with a list, but inevitably come home without at least one thing I really needed.

Irene, you are SO COOL. I love this sequence. I was wracking my brain trying to think of how to do a documentary (and ultimately didn't) and you did it so flawlessly. Your sequence is so arty. It catches the exhausted whirl that follows a trip to any big supermarket with floor to ceiling shelves of food. And your words are appropriately sly and witty. You always manage to do this--just the right combination of humor and depth to make it perfect.

I love grocery shopping. It's the one thing my family lets me do alone. It's all solitude and box labels. Besides, I just love food.

Irene, I love the series. I think it captures what it feels like to bring bags of groceries home and have to "unload" them no matter what else is going on in the house. The blurry quality of you moving and the bags slowly shrinking until they are gone. Such a creative idea and a great way to capture it.

Grocery shopping gives me a headache, too. You're right, it's too much visual stimulation. Your series is fantastic, Irene. I love the movement, how it shows the hustle and bustle to put the food away and move on to the rest of your day.
