self portrait challenge - imperfection

P10208227324.jpg

in honor of the pair of glasses I just bought. my driving licence. reminding me to embrace the self-knowledge and better hair I have gained rather than fret over the idea of aging. and not to take myself too seriously. I would cringe with embarrassment and pretend it's not me if only I didn't fail my test three times and cried the day I finally passed, and if this hadn't made my husband laugh out loud for the last 10 years.

Took me three times to pass--you are still worthy and a great driver!!! I know, I have ridden with you. :)

And you should SEE my 8th grade pic--all teal eyeliner and the "wet look" crunchy gel with a perm.

[shudder]

Love the new glasses on you! Very hip! Boy, I have this one picture of my college year with the punk hair and unplucked eyebrows and all. Man, I'm too chicken to post that on my blog.

Took me 2 tries to pass and someday I'll send you a photo of MY driving license and my big, thick wrestler's neck - you'll see that most of these are terrible. (=

Oh friend, you are brave! I think about my high school yearbook picture and I cringe just remembering my thick eyebrows!! LOL.
Great, great choice.

you look fantastic in those glasses! i had a pair similar to them a few years ago and realized--too late--that they did not suit my face. silly woman at lenscrafters, what do *you* know?

If you can drive in Paris, you must be a great driver. :) I've got a picture just like it somewhere in my parents' attic.
LOVE your new glasses. You look fabulous!

love the pinkness ... and great idea to celebrate *change* with an old picture. driving and passport ids never seem to reflect us as we *know* we are : why does officialdom demand less-than-perfect photos of ourselves for identification???

Oh, I wish you could have seen my childhood glasses - why, why, WHY did my parents let me choose them? (You are darling, though. Really.)

Don't feel bad about the 3 times thing - when I still had the license guy in my car, I ran over the concrete block at the top of the parking space - made a really sickening SQUUUNCH. But I still I got my license!

I love your new glasses, Irene. And old driving license photos. Too classic.
