Newton's third law is exactly why I don't want to make resolution lists anymore

the last couple of days were soothing as a lullaby. the boys levitated with infectious joie de vivre, full of unalloyed joy and unquestioning obedience. we hovered in a world brimming with perfect little moments like when we leisurely sipped cups of hot chocolate and cuddled and expired in each other's arms at night. my knitting and complexion were flawless. life with kids was unexpectedly easy. and happy.

now guess what kind of day I've had.

The universe restores balance and bestows chaos upon you?

HA! Love this. Isn't that so true? We have the same thing. We'll have a few really great days and my husband and I joke about waiting for the other shoe to drop. Love kids, but sometimes they can really surprise you...both with the good behavior and the bad!

There's nothing quite like hearing rubber soles crash on hardwod floors, is there?
I've stopped waiting for that 'other shoe to fall', I just try to keep on enjoying the bliss, knowing at any given moment it could end - miserably.
we can't have the good days without the bad ones, that's for sure. hope you find comfort in knowing that another good day is headed your way sooner or later!

You just never know, do you?

Hang onto the memories of the good days, they will help you through the not so good days.

You know what I have to say about this post? How can you write so beautifully and elegantly in a language that's surely only one of which you know? Huh? I can barely string a sentence together sometimes...and I only speak ONE. :) xoxo

I with I would have more than one hour of bliss before the other shoe dropped!! Good for you to have a few days...

Crud. I guess its moments like the ones you had today that make the days like yesterday so blissful though, right? I squeald when I read the title to your post and then the quote. How PERFECTLY APT. Ahh, you have talent my dear. I loved the line "unalloyed joy." Beautiful.

Ha! Darlin', you are too funny.

I guess this is an example of why we have the expression in America, "Sh*t Happens."

Your ability to roll with the sh*t, this is what makes you a great Mom.

Of course, I don't mean that literally. (Ew!)

oh how far away those thoughts seem now with a 7 1/2 yr. old and a 10 yr old... wait till they start talking back, don't want hugs, etc.

Ha that is funny, just when life looks perfect....

We all have ups and downs.

I'm agreeing with Marilyn about your writing. So simple, sparse, yet we feel as though we know and understand you so well.

Sigh. On rough days, after the kids are finally asleep, it's best to find a comfy chair, sip a hot cocoa and listen to Jamie Callum.

Irene, I especially love the line about your knitting and complexion being flawless. Too funny!

Hope your day got better!

Was today any better?

That's why I don't make resolutions either!

And oh my God, what I would do for an hour of a perfect complexion. I hate hormones.
