bonjour! this is where I document my life with my family, things we like to do, places we like to go and random things that inspire and make me happy.

double digits

Sean and Will celebrated their 10th birthday last week. and it's going to take a while to sink in.

note: many many thanks to everyone who has shown kindness, taught a lesson, helped and encouraged, and has been a part of our boys' lives in one way or another. we are forever grateful.

shamelessly excited about this

This sign always reminds me of this

"I showed my masterpiece to the grown-ups, and asked them whether the drawing frightened them.

But they answered: "Frighten? Why should any one be frightened by a hat?"

My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. But since the grown-ups were not able to understand it I makde another drawing: I drew the inside of a boa constrictor, so that the grown-ups could see it clearly. They always need to have things explained."

la Chandeleur

today February 2 is "La Chandeleur" (Candlemas) in France, also known as "Crêpes Day". we don't necessarily need an excuse to eat crêpes, but it sure is nice to make it a celebration.

twenty x 2

we celebrated my husband's 40th birthday this past weekend with good friends, karaoke singing and of course, our favorite cakes from Yamazaki.

ps: Happy Birthday love.

l'Île des Impressionistes

back from a photo shoot on Île des Impressionistes (in Chatou) where artists Monet, Degas, Renoir, Manet and many others used to hang out and paint. I can't wait to go back in the spring with the boys, our cameras, sketchbooks and gouache.

in the Vaud Alps

this is what we woke up to every morning while spending the last week of August in a small town in the Vaud Alps.

needless to say, we hope to go back soon.

retro polaroid camera felt brooch

our newly found favorite thing to do together (here at Paris Plage last week).

Aquarium de Paris

back from the Aquarium de Paris with the boys I think I've finally gotten over my fear of the underwater world. next: butterflies.

natural history museum

I can't believe we'd never been to the Grande Galerie de l'Evolution at the National Natural History Museum before. it is truly one of the most beautiful and fascinating places to visit in Paris, especially with children.

sidenote: I'm so grateful that Sean and Will are more curious and interested in biodiversity, endangered species and environmental issues than I was at their age.
